Keep That Resolution to JustQuit™ Smoking: Go Online

Most smokers want to quit. But fewer than one in 13 succeed when they try it alone. National Jewish Medical and Research Center today launched an online tool that works with smokers to help them quit for good. JustQuit™ On-Line is a 10-step interactive program that uses questionnaires, exercises and lessons to educate smokers about their habit, motivate them to quit, and teach them skills to prevent a relapse. In addition, e-mail reminders help keep the quitters on track.

Each session takes about 15 minutes to complete. The sessions include: Learning About You & Your Habit; Planning for Triggers & Coping; Survival Tips: Hang In There, Baby; and Relapse Preventions Strategies. The entire program takes four weeks to complete.

The program was written by a former smoker who understands what people go through when they try to quit. In addition, the techniques and strategies used in JustQuit™ On-Line are based on principles of behavioral change and research into smoking cessation.

People can learn more about JustQuit™ On-Line and sign up by visiting www.justquit.org. More information is also available by calling 800-570-5864, or sending an e-mail to JustQuit @njc.org. The program costs $45, payable by credit card online.
