National Jewish Medical and Research Center Teams With HealthTalk Interactive To Produce Allergy & Asthma Programming

SEATTLE, WA -- National Jewish Medical and Research Center, the number one respiratory hospital in America four years in a row, has formed a Web alliance with HealthTalk Interactive®, the leading producer of disease education programming on the Internet at www.healthtalk.com .

Beginning June 2001, HealthTalk will collaborate with National Jewish to jointly develop content for Allergy and AsthmaTalk, a new program on HealthTalk’s Asthma Education Network at www.healthtalk.com/aen/index.html . Each month, these 30-minute programs will feature respiratory medical specialists addressing specific questions important to people with allergies and asthma. National Jewish physicians will provide expert editorial review and often appear as guests. HealthTalk will produce the programs, drawing on the expertise of National Jewish for suggestions about topics and physicians. The two parties will jointly seek unrestricted educational grants to support the programming, which will be hosted by asthma specialist Greg Redding, MD, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and medical broadcaster Gina Tuttle.

David Tinkelman, MD and V.P. of Health Initiatives for National Jewish, commented, "Our goal is to reach out to everyone affected by allergies and asthma, and to give them the in-depth information they need to better manage their conditions. Allergy and AsthmaTalk brings two quality organizations together as a team for that purpose, giving allergy and asthma patients greater access to National Jewish physicians and knowledge in a format that is both in-depth and approachable."

Andrew Schorr, Senior Vice President and Founder of HealthTalk Interactive, added, "Both over the phone and across the Web, HealthTalk has been producing innovative educational programs for people with allergies and asthma for over five years. National Jewish has been the leader in respiratory medicine for over 100 years, and we’re honored by their vote of confidence. Together, we will bring an unparalleled depth of support and information to allergy and asthma patients across the World Wide Web."
